Dr. Thomas Kwong

Dr. Kwong was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. His passion for orthodontics started very early on while he was treated with braces during his teenage years. From Toronto, he moved with his family over to the Chicago land area where he completed high school and also competed in National Tennis tournaments. With his successful tournament results, he earned a full athletic scholarship to play Division I tennis at Saint Louis University. After his four successful years as a “Billiken” and earning his Bachelors of Arts (B.A) in Biology, he attended the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Dentistry where he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree. During his four years at UIC he was the president of his dental school class and obtained many awards for his service and leadership in the community. He was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honors society upon graduation.
Immediately following dental school, Dr. Kwong continued his studies at UIC for Orthodontics. During his extra three years of training, he earned his Orthodontic certificate and Masters of Science (M. S.) degree in Oral Sciences. His Master’s thesis involved comparing different topical anesthetics for the placement of orthodontic temporary anchorage devices which is published in the Angle Orthodontist Journal. http://angle.org/doi/pdf/10.2319/020811-91.1
He is married to his wonderful wife Dr. Chuandi Wang a Pediatric Dentist in Portage and enjoys spending time with their son Dominic and daughter Janine. On his spare time he enjoys playing tennis, biking, running, and travelling. Dr. Kwong is still very active with his tennis abilities as he has his coaching certification and has coached tennis for 5 years.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists and Kalamazoo Valley District Dental Society. He is also the chair of the New Dentist Committee at the Kalamazoo Valley District Dental Society and is very involved in the community. He is a board certified orthodontist in the state of Michigan and also has licenses to practice in Canada and Illinois. Dr. Kwong is extremely excited to meet you and looks forward to the opportunities ahead.
